The Brown Lohmann is a brown variety of chicken that was bred for its superior egg laying performance. These birds will start to lay at about 18 weeks and will lay up to 320 eggs a year. They will lay in full performance to 72 weeks old, at which point egg production will reduce slightly. 
Though these birds do not typically go broody, they have a calm, friendly temperament and are easily handled. A huge bonus for children! Very curious and adventurous make for a great addition to the family.
